Got a speed camera ticket in D.C. and want to fight it? Your odds of winning aren’t bad.

D.C. dismissed 32 percent of the 9,650 automated traffic tickets that were contested so far in fiscal year 2012, according to a report from AAA Mid-Atlantic.

The city also dismissed 32 percent of photo tickets in fiscal year 2011, but only 19 percent in 2010.

The automated tickets aren't the only ones being rejected. D.C. has nixed 52 percent of all contested parking tickets and 55 percent of contested moving violations.

Fighting a ticket could take a good deal of time, though. The full appeal process now takes an average of more than two years. D.C. is trying to add another appeals board to speed things up.
