The nation's leading climate change advocate, former Vice President Al Gore, is creating a mini army of "climate leaders" to push governments and companies around the world to adopt policies aimed at reducing global warming.

On Wednesday in Chicago Gore will host his second "climate reality leadership corps training" this year where his Climate Reality Project will show supporters how to talk about the issue and push for solutions to carbon burning.

Just last month, he held a similar event in Istanbul where one attendee said she was "moved to tears" when Gore spoke about global warming.

Gore is using the two events to update his popular movie "An Inconvenient Truth," his slideshow describing his believe that the world isn't doing enough to curb carbon use which he blames on global warming.

"Climate Leaders are activists who have taken part in this leadership and communications training led by former Vice President Al Gore and the Climate Reality Project," said Gore's group. "Climate leaders are expected to perform ten acts of leadership, which could include organising an event, speaking at a seminar or writing a column in a newspaper."

Over the course of the three-day training, Climate Leaders will learn how to engage people in a conversation about carbon pollution that makes the complex issue accessible and relevant in the lives of diverse communities. By the end of the training, Climate Leaders will have both the knowledge and the tools to seek out and connect with new audiences and become leaders in our struggle against climate change.

In 2006, the Climate Reality Project launched the leadership training initiative to create a global network of concerned citizens working to alert their communities to the reality of climate change. Since 2006, over 4,400 volunteers from all 50 states and 100 countries have been trained.

The Climate Reality Project, founded and chaired by former Vice President and Nobel Laureate Al Gore, is dedicated to unleashing a global cultural movement demanding action on the climate crisis. Despite overwhelming international scientific consensus on climate change, the global community still lacks the resolve to implement meaningful solutions. The Climate Reality Project exists to forge an unwavering bedrock of impassioned support necessary for urgent action. With that foundation, together we will ignite the moral courage in our leaders to solve the climate crisis. For more information:
