Former NBA star Dennis Rodman says he probably helped push North Korea to meet with South Korea and to allow dictator Kim Jong Un to meet soon with President Trump.
Rodman said the most recent time he visited Kim in North Korea for his birthday, he brought him Trump’s books, and he says that made the North Korean leader really realize who Trump is.
“People know that, people have the video of me giving his books and all this stuff about Donald Trump,” Rodman told TMZ. “I think he didn’t realize who Donald Trump was at that time.”
“I don’t want to take all the credit, I don’t want to sit here and say, ‘I did this. I did that.’ No, that’s not my intention,” he added.
Rodman has visited North Korea several times over the past few years and has spoken with Kim. Rodman is also a big fan of Trump and has supported him ever since he decided to make a run for the White House.
“I don’t ask Donald Trump for anything. You know, I like Donald Trump. He’s a good friend,” Rodman said. “And I’ve always asked him to talk to me because he wants the people of North Korea, and the government over there asked me to talk to Donald Trump about what they want and how we can solve things.”
Rodman’s comments come after Kim and South Korean President Moon Jae-in agreed to put an end to the six-decade Korean War and vowed to work with the U.S. and China towards denuclearization of the Korean peninsula.
