Kentucky Democratic candidate for Senate Alison Lundergan Grimes is headed to Chicago next week for a fundraiser with Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

In an email obtained by the Washington Examiner, friends of Conlon & Dunn Public Strategies, a public affairs firm based in Chicago, are invited to an event March 20 to donate to Grimes' campaign.

The reception with Grimes is asking for donations of $5,200 for sponsors, $2,600 for hosts, $500 contributions as "friends" and $250 from supporters.

Grimes is challenging Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. Her campaign had a slow start but has picked up in recent months. Former President Bill Clinton appeared with Grimes at a campaign event in Louisville last month, and the campaign has hinted former Secretary of State and potential 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton will appear with Grimes in the Bluegrass state.

McConnell is currently leading Tea Party-backed Republican challenger Matt Bevin in polls for the state's primary; however, polls show his lead over Grimes narrowing.
