TV, radio and newspaper newsrooms are giving women the cold shoulder, making sure men dominate the executive offices by a wide margin, according to a new Pew Research Center report.
In TV, just 19 percent of the top news jobs are held by women. Ditto for radio. At newspapers, women run newsrooms in 34 percent. And it's been that way for nearly a decade, said Pew.
It's not because women aren't in the field. About 40 percent of local TV staff are women. At newspapers it's nearly 35 percent.
The glass ceiling is even worse at the nation's biggest circulation newspapers. Of the top 10, said Pew, only the New York Times has a female executive editor, Jill Abramson.
