Obamacare went too far, almost half of voters say

A nationwide exit poll shows almost half of voters believe Obamacare went too far.

About 45 percent told NBC News that the law went too far, while 31 percent believe it didn't go far enough and 18 percent said it was just right, according to a nationwide exit poll released Tuesday.

The results come a few weeks after the Obama administration announced that Obamacare premiums would rise an average of 25 percent in 2017 and customers would have fewer options to choose from, after major insurers pulled away from the Affordable Care Act's exchanges.

Republican nominee Donald Trump has pledged to repeal the law, while Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton wants to expand and fix parts of it.

Obama boosts Nancy Pelosi for House minority leader

At his final foreign press conference in South America, President Barack Obama boosted Nancy Pelosi's bid for another term as minority leader of the House of Representatives.

Asked during the reporter question and answer session if House Democrats should give Pelosi another term as leader, Obama said he doesn't normally "meddle" with such Democratic Party decisions, "and I shouldn't meddle here," but he didn't stop himself from doing just that.

Obama called Pelosi, for two terms the first female Speaker of the House, an "outstanding and historic political leader" and a "remarkable leader" for good measure.

"I cannot speak highly enough about Nancy Pelosi," Obama effused in Peru Sunday.
