FBI officials and D.C. police are investigating a bank robbery in the Brightwood neighborhood of Northwest Washington, and they are asking the public to help identify the suspect.

About 4 p.m. on March 5, the robber entered the SunTrust Bank at 6422 Georgia Ave. NW, and approached the teller window.

The man demanded money from the clerk, and was given an undisclosed amount of U.S. cash. The culprit then left the bank on foot.

The robber is described as a black male, 50 to 60 years old, about 5-foot-7 and 180 pounds. He had a medium build, medium complexion and graying facial hair.

He was last seen wearing a dark-color winter cap and a puffy black jacket with red lining around the collar.

Law enforcement officials have released photos taken by surveillance cameras and they are asking for the public's help in identifying the robber.
