During an appearance on ABC’s "This Week" on Sunday, former New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson explained that he was “envious” of Dennis Rodman for getting a chance to visit North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un.

Richardson traveled to North Korea with Google Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt in January — a trip that was called “ill advised” by the State Department.

“I think this guy is a big mystery. Nobody knows anything about him. He hasn’t met with anybody so it’s not as if there’s some intelligence out there about him,” Richardson explained while discussing North Korea’s new leader. “My hope is that because he speaks English, he was educated in the Swiss school, he’s 29, 30, he seems to be comfortable with himself as a politician, as a leader, that maybe there’s some sanity to him.”

Richardson added that he was concerned that Jong-Un was being “manipulated” by hard-line North Korean generals.
