Sightings: 'Glee' cast members go low key

Published: Oct 13, 2009
Even if her attire was more toned down than usual, pop superstar Lady Gaga still made a loud appearance when she strutted into Washington this weekend to appear alongside President Obama at the annual Human Rights Campaign dinner. Other celebrity guests decided to stay low key. Spotted in jeans and tees this weekend were actors Cory Monteith and Chris Colfer, who appear in the new TV show "Glee." The cast members and another dinner guest chose K Street favorite Teatro Goldoni and sampled some of the restaurant's chicken parmesan and vanilla gelato. We hear they seemed pretty relaxed, even though they had to share the stage with the president the next night....

And for his second D.C. endeavor he's swapping loaded burgers for crispy pizza. "It's right next door, right there, and it's going to be called We, The Pizza," Mendelsohn revealed to Yeas & Nays. The Odd Couple: Magic supports Specter

Published: Oct 13, 2009
Most political endorsements occur only after a long flirtation between candidate and celebrity, but not so for Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter and basketball great Earvin "Magic" Johnson. When Johnson met Specter, it was support at first sight. Johnson ran into the senator, who is being challenged by Democratic Rep. Joe Sestak and by Republican Pat Toomey, on the University of Pennsylvania campus recently and after a brief conversation the former Los Angeles Laker decided to introduce and endorse him. "It was just happenstance," spokesman Christopher Nicholas told Yeas & Nays. "They met out in the parking lot." There are no plans for the athlete to tag...

Walter Iooss Jr. has taken photos for Sports Illustrated for almost 50 years. His pictures have graced more than 300 covers, but somehow he has narrowed his collection down to 40 photographs to be displayed at the Newseum from Oct. 9 to Dec. 31. "Athlete" combines his own words about the pictures on display and his elaborate journals to showcase his favorite memories. "The moment a ball is tossed at you that way, there's nothing else in world except the ball and you. That's the great beauty of sports ... during that period...

Overexposed: Levi Johnston posing for Playgirl

Levi Johnston is hitting the gym -- not to win back his baby's momma, Bristol Palin, but rather to get ready for his centerfold. While we all were praying that Johnston would fall off the media blitz, he came back again Wednesday after months of speculation to announce he would pose for Playgirl. Although the date of the photo shoot hasn't been set, Johnston has been working out three hours a day six days a week with former Mr. Alaska competitor Marvin Jones. Johnston is modifying his diet with a low-carb, high-protein regimen at Jones' advice. Johnston has been able to reset the fame clock at least one other time in recent weeks: He's appearing in a commercial for Wonderful...

Full disclosure: If you plan to partake in any event with D.C.'s "Real World" cast, their producers can't guarantee that you will come out STD-free. RW Productions, contracted by MTV, required contestants of the "Put Your Best Foot Forward" date auction Wednesday night to sign a waiver that went beyond the typical television appearance disclosure. We don't want to say we told you so, Elizabeth Edwards, but ... An item on the Kausfiles blog on Slate.com reports "Cherubim," the alleged pseudonym of the scorned wife of former vice presidential hopeful John Edwards, has not been seen or heard from on various Web sites since the Sept. 27 New York Daily News article outing her as the likely person behind the name. "You'd think that if Cherubim wasn't Elizabeth (or even if she was) she'd post something saying 'I'm not Elizabeth.' " Mickey Kaus writes. "It's also possible that the Cherubim story is some kind of trap, attempting to bait the blogosphere and [mainstream media] into jumping to irresponsible...

DeLay's run on 'Dancing With the Stars' ends

Published: Oct 08, 2009
The Hammer came down, but it was by his own accord. Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay made his exit from ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" on Tuesday night after telling viewers he couldn't practice, and he didn't want to make dancing partner Cheryl Burke look like a fool. Going against the recommendations of both doctors and producers, DeLay and Burke managed to eke out the samba on Monday night's performance show. "Tom, I think you're a hero. If I had a stress fracture with both feet, I wouldn't be judging, let alone dancing," head judge Len Goodman said. Praise didn't equal points, however -- DeLay and Burke scored just a 15 out of 30. "Louis Veto told me that adrenaline would...

Strutting across the rooftop pool at the Liaison hotel Tuesday night, lanky and distressed models chilled onlookers with the slightest turn on the catwalk that revealed the badge of domestic abuse -- makeup applied to look like a large purple welt on skin uncovered by...

Late-night television host David Letterman said Monday night that he was sorry for having sexual relationships with various female employees, and even went a step further to say his wife was "horribly hurt." But despite the apologies, he kept the punchlines coming and dug into his favorite stash of Sarah Palin knocks. The juxtaposition of the two left some wondering whether the news media has let Letterman off too easily. Colleen Raezler at The Culture and Media Institute in Alexandria said she thought so.
