Jeb Bush avoided saying Sunday whether he would support Donald Trump as the Republican nominee.
NBC's Chuck Todd repeatedly asked the former Florida governor about December reports from within his campaign that he would not support the Democratic convert if he secures the nomination.
But Bush, appearing on "Meet the Press," insisted he himself would be the party's choice.
"I'm gonna win the nomination. That's my focus," he said. "That's what I'm trying to do. But anybody'd be better than Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders."
Bush has seen a steady decline in his favorability among Republicans, and has recently appeared to reduce his attacks on Trump. But Bush woud not say he would support the New York billionaire.
"He's not gonna win the nomination. And I'm gonna continue to be critical of him when he doesn't advocate conservative principles," Bush said.
