New York police have confirmed a group of pedestrians was struck by a livery cab in Lower Manhattan on Thursday afternoon.

The incident took place at Broadway and Liberty Streets — close to Zucotti Park — around 1:30 p.m. local time.

Police are investigating whether a crash was an incident or premeditated, but told NBC-New York it appears to have been unintentional after the vehicle hopped the curb.

Officers responding to the scene took the driver, who has not been identified, into custody.

The extent of the victims' injuries remain unknown.

A picture of the scene shows a dark SUV mostly on the sidewalk and the front of the vehicle destroyed. A crushed bicycle can be soon under the front bumper of the cab.
