New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said he believes Donald Trump has made a huge error by deciding to skip Thursday's GOP presidential debate in Iowa ahead of Monday's first-in-the-nation caucus.

"I think that Donald Trump is making a big mistake," Christie told Boston Herald Radio. "It makes people call into question his judgment. ... What kind of judgment does this guy have that he's willing to walk away? How thin-skinned is he?"

Christie added that he is glad Trump will not attend Thursday's debate because it means all of the other Republican presidential candidates will receive more speaking time.

The New Jersey governor also seemed to provide a hint that his top target on Thursday would be Florida Sen. Marco Rubio. Christie described Rubio as a "44-year-old, first-term senator who's never done anything," which he contrasted with himself and Ohio Gov. John Kasich and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, who Christie said he likes and respects.

Christie, who ranks sixth in the Washington Examiner's newest GOP presidential power rankings, also made a prediction about the cover of the Boston Herald after next month's New Hampshire primary. The governor said it's front-page headline would read, "Christie shocks Trump."
