Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., on Tuesday asked Trump to stop complaining to Puerto Rico about the budget pressures the U.S. is facing after two hurricanes hit the U.S. territory.

"Mr. President — enough," Schumer said during the Senate Democratic leadership team's weekly press conference. "Stop blaming Puerto Rico for the storm that devastated their shores, and roll up your sleeves and get the recovery on track."

"I don't remember him telling Texas that they threw our budget out of whack after [Hurricane] Harvey or Florida after [Hurricane] Irma," Schumer said.

Trump made the comments during a stop on the island that was devastated after the hurricane and is struggling to get back on track.

"I hate to tell you, Puerto Rico, but you threw our budget a little out of whack. But that's fine," Trump said at a briefing shortly after he landed.
