On this day, Nov. 27, in 2007, Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor died one day after he was shot in his Miami home by an intruder.

The 24-year-old Pro Bowl defensive back was in the home on Nov. 26 with his fiancee and 18-month-old daughter when he confronted an intruder at his bedroom door and was shot in the upper thigh. Taylor lost a critical amount of blood and died the next day at a local hospital.

To honor Taylor, the Redskins' defense lined up with only 10 players on the field for their first play after he was killed. No team member has worn Taylor's number 21 since his death.
