A D.C. man admitted to killing a puppy by dropping a nearly 100-pound concrete slab on the sleeping dog, prosecutors said.

Sean Delontay Branch, 24, pleaded guilty Tuesday to felony cruelty to animals. Branch faces up to five years in prison at his sentencing, scheduled for Nov. 27.

According to the plea deal, Branch killed the 6-month-old puppy named King Tut because he was angry at the dog's owner.

On the morning of June 29, King Tut was asleep and tied to a fence behind the Circle Seven Express store in the 1200 block of Mount Olivet Road NE.

When the dog's owner walked away briefly, Branch approached the dog and dropped a cement slab, weighing more than 90 pounds, on to the pet.

A witness flagged down the dog's owner to inform him of what happened. When the owner returned, the dog was dead.
