D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray will begin a citywide series of town hall meetings on Wednesday night to gather input about the District's $10 billion budget.

Gray is scheduled to appear at the Luke C. Moore Academy -- located at 1001 Moore St. NE in Ward 5 -- at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

"We have assembled this budget based on extensive feedback from community organizations and from all 13 members of the D.C. Council, and I look forward to further feedback from everyday District residents on its proposals," Gray said last month. "These town halls will help us further refine this budget and ensure it provides the maximum benefit to everyone in our city."

Gray has one other town hall scheduled for this week. He's due to visit Ward 1 on Thursday for an event at the Columbia Heights Recreation Center, which is at 1480 Girard St. NW.

Gray, who released his budget plan on March 28, is kicking off his budget tour on the same day D.C. Council committees are beginning their hearings to review the proposed budgets of individual agencies.

The full council will vote on the budget for the first time on May 22. Under D.C. law, the proposal must survive two council votes before it passes.
