An actor best known for his role on the FX drama "Sons of Anarchy" was found dead in Los Angeles on Wednesday.

Johnny Lewis, 28, either fell or jumped off a roof after he allegedly murdered his 81-year-old landlady, who was found dead of an apparent beating inside the home.

And according to E! News, a cat was found beaten to death inside the home as well.

Court records show Johnny, who played Half-Sack on "SOA," was released from jail a week ago.

Johnny pleaded no contest to assault with a deadly weapon and attempted burglary in separate cases this year, according to the Associated Press. He also enrolled in a drug, alcohol and psychiatric treatment program over the summer.

It's unclear whether drugs or alcohol were involved, but police are investigating that possibility based on the circumstances of the crime, the AP reports.

According to E!, reports are surfacing that he may have been on "smiles" (a synthetic, designer drug) when he either jumped or fell to his death.

"Sons of Anarchy" creator Kurt Sutter tweeted "it was a tragic end for an extremely talented guy, who unfortunately had lost his way. I wish I could say that I was shocked by the events of last night, but I was not."

L.A. County Assistant Coroner Ed Winter tells E! that an autopsy was scheduled for Thursday.

"We do not have his cause of death and will not have any information as to what was in his system," he said. Authorities expect those results in about two weeks.

Johnny was best known for his role on "SOA," but has also appeared on "The O.C.," "Boston Public," "Criminal Minds" and in the film "The Runaways." He also used to date Katy Perry.

Southern roots

Reese Witherspoon and her husband, Jim Toth, have welcomed a son, Tennessee James Toth.

Reese, who was already mom to Ava, 13, and Deacon, 8, with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe, is healthy and happy, her rep said.

The baby is Reese's first child with Jim, whom she married in March.

According to a People magazine source, Reese, 36, was eager to have another child.

The pair initially kept quiet about the pregnancy, but throughout the summer, she was seen sporting a baby bump.

And if you're wondering about the baby's name, the Oscar-winner grew up in Nashville. Good thing she isn't from Massachusetts!
