Donald Trump Jr. on Wednesday criticized a report suggesting President Trump didn’t know who former House Speaker John Boehner was as a “pathetic attempt to smear” the president.
More lies, go back and look, Boehner and #potus spent time together well before the election. Just another pathetic attempt to smear @realDonaldTrump #fakenews https://t.co/xxuhdiQU8f— Donald Trump Jr. (@DonaldJTrumpJr) January 3, 2018
Trump Jr.’s tweet was in reference to an excerpt from Michael Wolff's "Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House" published by New York Magazine on Wednesday. The book alleges Trump asked, “Who’s that?” when former Fox News chairman Roger Ailes suggested Trump tap Boehner to serve as his chief of staff.
Boehner, R-Ohio, stepped down as House speaker in 2015.
