He was a punchline at the White House Correspondents Dinner in 2011, and he was only begrudgingly brought into the fundraising fold by Republican presidential candidates in 2012, but Donald Trump is still considering a bid for president, he said in an interview that aired Sunday — and he would commit a chunk of his own money to it.

“If I made a decision, I’d spend a lot,” Trump told ABC’s Jon Karl in Iowa, where Trump spoke at the Family Leadership Summit.

“A modern presidential campaign would be half a billion dollars,” Karl responded before asking, would Trump spend that much?

“If I did it, I would spend what it took,” Trump confirmed.

Trump also had high praise for some of the top Republican contenders, including New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who Trump called a “wonderful guy.”
