Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz has been tabbed as the designated survivor for Tuesday's State of the Union address.

That means Moniz won't be at the Capitol in case a calamity should strike the other cabinet-level officers attending President Obama's speech. Moniz would have the responsibility of running the federal government if a catastrophe struck the nation's leadership.

The selection of Moniz marks the second year in a row the Energy secretary has held the distinction. Last year, then-Energy Secretary Steven Chu was the designated survivor.
