A former top adviser to Hillary Clinton called Democratic Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand a “hypocrite” for saying former President Bill Clinton should have resigned over his affair with White House intern Monica Lewinsky.

“Ken Starr spent $70 million on a consensual blowjob. Senate voted to keep POTUS WJC. But not enough for you @SenGillibrand? Over 20 yrs you took the Clintons’ endorsements, money, and seat. Hypocrite,” Philippe Reines tweeted Thursday.

“Interesting strategy for 2020 primaries. Best of luck,” he wrote.

Gillibrand, who took over Hillary Clinton’s New York Senate seat in 2009, said it would have been “appropriate” for Bill Clinton to step down as president after revelations of his affair with Lewinsky.

She is the most high-profile Democrat to make such a statement and has been rumored as a 2020 presidential candidate.

Bill Clinton has also been accused of sexual misconduct by multiple other women, though he has denied all allegations.
