A federal law enforcement officer said the Justice Department will likely suspend its legal action against Apple by late Monday, according to a news report.

Sources confirmed that the federal government was successful in finding a method to hack the iPhones of the San Bernardino terrorists, and will withdraw its lawsuit against the technology company that had asked it for one-time access to the mobile devices.

The encryption-cracking software will allow the FBI to view information on the phones of Syed Farook and his wife Tashfeen Malik, the shooters who carried out the December shooting that killed 14 people.
