The man accused of fatally shooting an off-duty Maryland State Police trooper who was working a security detail is scheduled to face trial Monday.
Cyril Williams is accused of ambushing Trooper Wesley Brown outside an Applebee’s restaurant in Forestville in June 2010.
Brown was providing security at the restaurant, where Williams refused to pay his bill and Brown threw him out, according to police. Williams and another man later returned to the restaurant and fired shots when Brown stepped outside.
The other suspect, Anthony Andre Milton, pleaded guilty last year to being an accessory after the fact.
Williams faces charges of first-degree murder and several weapons offenses.
