An overnight fire has destroyed at a warehouse near D.C.'s new Union Market.

D.C. fire officials say the two-alarm blaze began late Wednesday night and tore through the warehouse at 400 Morse St. NE. The building housed wholesalers of Mexican fruits, handbags, frozen meat, chicken and seafood.

Firefighters had trouble getting inside the burning building and fought the fire from the outside.

WTOP Radio reports the blaze was finally contained by about 4 a.m. Thursday.
