Republican campaign consultant Rick Tyler is still voting for Ted Cruz, even after the Texas senator fired Tyler for promoting a false attack on Marco Rubio.

Tyler, Cruz's former communications director, posted on Facebook and Twitter a picture of his Virginia absentee ballot showing him voting for Cruz ahead of the Virginia primary on March 1. Virginia is amongst 11 states that will vote on that day.

Tyler was fired by Cruz after he distributed a video with incorrect subtitles that made it look like Florida Sen. Marco Rubio was disparaging the Bible. Tyler had not apparent role in creating the erroneous video.

Cruz's decision came after the campaign had dealt with growing criticism from opponents about so-called dirty tricks. These include Cruz supporters spreading a false rumor that neurologist Ben Carson was dropping out of the race on Iowa caucus night.

Since his firing on Feb. 22, Tyler has become a correspondent on MSNBC.
