President Trump fired FBI Director James Comey Tuesday evening, but there was once a time the two appeared to have a much more promising future together.

Days after Trump took the oath of office, he held a ceremony at the White House that Comey attended. Trump pointed Comey out and said, "He's become more famous than me."

Comey approached Trump and warmly shook his hand.

It wasn't so long ago that Trump used Comey to slam Hillary Clinton and her campaign, calling him "the best thing that ever happened" to the Democratic candidate. Trump used the press conference Comey gave in July detailing the investigation into Clinton's email server as the reason why he fired him.
