Former Washington Redskins running back Stephen Davis was arrested in South Carolina for operating a nightclub without a business license.

Davis, who was drafted by the Redskins in 1996 and spent the bulk of his 11 year career in Washington, was arrested on Wednesday, and also charged with three counts involving a fraudulent check.

Davis' PURE Lounge in Columbia, S.C., has operated without a license since July, when it was revoked, according to the South Carolina Department of Revenue.

The native of Spartanburg, S.C., who also played for the St. Louis Rams and reached the Super Bowl with the Carolina Panthers during his NFL career, could face a 30-day jail sentence and a $200 fine if convicted.
