Four men have been arrested after a Northeast D.C. man who was shot nearly two years ago died last week, police said.

On Nov. 22, 2010, Melvin Pate was found with a gunshot wound inside a vehicle on the 2100 block of Brooks Drive in Capitol Heights. A Prince George's County police spokesman said Pate was shot as a result of a failed drug-related robbery.

Pate was paralyzed as a result of the shooting and was in and out of the hospital for the remainder of his life. The 29-year-old victim died Nov. 8 from complications related to being shot, and his death has been ruled a homicide, police said.

Four suspects in Pate's death were arrested this week and were charged with first- and second-degree murder.

On Tuesday, officers arrested 22-year-old Jermaine Hailes, of Southeast D.C., and 21 year-old Ciree Petty, of Capitol Heights, police said. On Wednesday, officers arrested 22-year-old Ramel Sanders, of Clinton, and 22-year-old Mark Anderson, of Waldorf.
