A Fox News poll released Wednesday evening concluded the majority of U.S. voters believe President Trump is "tearing the country apart," while only a third say he is not dividing the country.

The Aug. 27-29 survey found 56 percent of American voters think Trump is hurting the country.

Voter satisfaction about America's direction has dropped by double digits since April. Only 35 percent are happy with it as compared with 45 percent just four months ago. The remaining 64 percent do not like where the U.S. appears to be headed.

Respondents are also less satisfied with Trump's job performance. His approval rating fell from 48 percent in February to 41 percent in late August, while his disapproval number jumped from 47 percent to 55 percent in that time.

The majority — 58 percent — say Trump will finish his four-year term in office.

Trump has struggled to recover from the backlash to his muddled response to the Charlottesville, Va., protest and other recent events, including the pardoning of former Sheriff Joe Arpaio as Hurricane Harvey landed in Texas on Friday.

The landline and cellphone survey of 1,006 randomly selected registered voters nationwide was conducted under the watch of Anderson Robbins Research and Shaw & Company Research and has a three percentage point margin of error.
