Free agent tight end Fred Davis hasn’t wavered in his desire to return to the Redskins. But he’s also looking out for his future, which is why he’s added a second visit to an AFC East team for this week.

Davis, already scheduled to be in Buffalo on Wednesday, will visit the New York Jets at the end of the week, an NFL source confirmed this morning. Davis had told the Pro Football Central podcast that he was going to meet with the Jets. Earlier this week an NFL source said the Jets’ interest in him was on the backburner for now. But perhaps with the Bills showing more interest, having met with him in Washington as well, the Jets wanted to at least get involved and check him out, especially from a medical standpoint. Davis is coming off a ruptured Achilles’ tendon.

“I definitely feel like whatever team signed any tight ends right now, I’m gonna make them regret anything that they do– and the Redskins, too, as well – because I know I’m gonna go out here and I’m gonna do what I have to do,” he told NFL AM earlier this week. “And I’ll bet you next year’s gonna be a good year for me. “
