That's a lesson my first writing coach taught me more than two decades ago. It's still useful, not just in journalism, but whenever you want to avoid headlines like this one, from BuzzFeed:

"GOP Candidate Says Government Should Be 'Servant' And She's Ready To 'Whip Things Into Shape' In Fundraising Email."

It seems odd that there are GOP candidates who still need to learn this in an era when the term "macaca moment" has become part of the media's political lexicon. But here it is, again.
