During a conversation with former President Bill Clinton at the 2017 Presidential Leadership Scholars graduation, former President George W. Bush said "humility" was the most important thing to embrace if someone wants to be president of the United States.
"What do you think it takes for somebody who says, 'I want to be president. I want to be like you. I want to be like you,'" David Rubinstein, moderator of the event, asked the two former presidents.
"Humility," Bush responded. "I think it's really important to know what you don't know and listen to people who do know what you don't know."
Bush also said that while he was serving as president he used to call Clinton for advice, particularly when it came to international affairs.
The Presidential Leadership Scholars Program is a partnership between the George W. Bush, William J. Clinton, George H.W. Bush, and Lyndon B. Johnson centers to help grow individuals who wish to devote themselves to addressing today's societal challenges.
