New York Democratic Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, says she is "focused entirely" on her Senate re-election efforts and will not pursue a 2020 White House bid.
"I'm focused entirely on running for Senate, so yes, I'm ruling it out," Gillibrand told reporters during a stop in upstate New York.
The prominent critic of President Trump has often been floated as a potential 2020 Democratic contender. A New York Times feature Monday named Gillibrand along with New Jersey senator Cory Booker and California senator Kamala Harriss among those giving consideration to White House runs.
Republican lawmakers, like Maine's Susan Collins, have suggested Gillibrand will seek higher office. "It would not surprise me if Kirsten were a candidate for higher office some day," Collins recently told New York Magazine.
