With President Obama planning a series of trips to bolster his party’s chances in the 2014 midterm elections, the GOP is charging that his photo ops at blue collar bars and pool halls have done little to help the unemployment and weak economy slamming Middle America.

The new campaign revealed Thursday by the National Republican Congressional Committee plays off the popular Food Channel show, “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives,” hosted by Guy Fieri. The GOP campaign is called: “Diners, Dives and Disappointment,” and even includes a logo similar to Fieri’s.

“With President Obama returning from his vacation in Martha’s Vineyard, Americans are still asking: Where are the jobs? Our veterans are suffering from this administration’s failures. There’s the crisis on our border. And America is growing weaker abroad,” said the NRCC in a release Thursday.

“But the president seems more interested in playing pool, drinking beers and grabbing burgers. So it’s no surprise a majority of Americans now view President Obama and his administration as incompetent.

“With the president dragging down Democrat incumbents coast-to-coast, he might want to visit some of their districts. And since he’s not interested in dealing with any real issues – he could even visit some diners and dives along the way.”

The president has been a fundraising hero to Democratic groups this year and is expected to continue his efforts. But he is also winning headlines as Democratic candidates are either shunning him or criticizing his administration, like Sen. Kay Hagan did this week when Obama visited her state of North Carolina.
