Senator Joni Ernst, R-IA., said on Tuesday that the president's frequent trips to Mar-a-Lago have been "bothering" her.
"I do wish he would spend more time in Washington, D.C.," the senator said during a town hall meeting in Wall Lake, Iowa. "That's what we have the White House for, we would love to see more of those State Department visits in Washington, D.C."
The Iowa senator said she has yet to speak to the president about the "Florida issue." Ernst said she isn't the only caucus member concerned, so it will likely be a point of discussion when she returns to Washington, D.C.
Since taking office 13 weeks ago, the president has spent more than half of his weekends at the club in Palm Beach, Fla., gaining criticism for the high cost associated with his recurring travel habit.
