SPARKS, Nev. (AP) — Gov. Brian Sandoval is telling the leaders of Nevada's tourism industry they should be cautiously optimistic about the way the state's economy is rebounding.
Sandoval said in an interview before addressing the Governor's Conference in Tourism in Sparks on Wednesday it is not acceptable that Nevada continues to lead the nation with the highest unemployment rate at more than 12 percent. But he said the state has now seen 25 consecutive months of improved sales tax receipts. And he says Nevada has 25,000 to 30,000 more jobs than it did at the time he took office in 2010.
He says there's no denying things are better than they were two years ago and he expects the tourism industry to continue to see improvement.
