Costco has even longer to wait before it can move toward approval for its proposed 16-pump gas station at Wheaton Whestfield mall -- the hearing for the gas station's special exception application has been postponed.

The hearings -- which were supposed to begin on March 11 -- will now be held starting in late April and through June. In all, there are eight hearings.

On Feb. 28 the Montgomery County Planning Board voted down the Costco gas station proposal. Residents in the area have rallied against it, citing environmental concerns as well as increased traffic congestion as problems with installing the gas station at the Wheaton Costco.

The Costco is scheduled to open on April 10.

The application will go in front of Martin Grossman, director of the Office of Zoning and Administrative Hearings and then head to the county's Board of Appeals.
