Infamous military whistleblower and transgender activist Chelsea Manning responded on Wednesday to President Trump's Twitter announcement that transgender people would no longer be allowed to serve in the U.S. armed forces.

The former intelligence analyst for the U.S. Army was sentenced to 35 years in prison after being convicted of leaking hundreds of thousands of military documents to Wikileaks.

After serving seven years of her sentence, former President Barack Obama commuted her sentence in January just before he left office.

During her time in prison, Manning pushed the military to cover the expenses of a sex reassignment surgery Manning wanted. Manning was known as Bradley Manning when he was caught leaking the information.
