Hillary Clinton fired back at former interim Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Donna Brazile who fueled controversy when she said the Democratic primary was “rigged” in favor of the former secretary of state.
“I didn’t know what she was referring to because, as has now come out, that just wasn’t the case,” Clinton said Wednesday on “Late Night with Seth Meyers.”
“But the current DNC leadership really invested heavily in Virginia and New Jersey and other places,” Clinton continued, pivoting to Democrats’ wins in Tuesday’s elections.
Clinton said she’s “working hard” to support the current leadership at the DNC.
Brazile fanned the flames of Democratic Party infighting with the release of her new book, in which she cites a fundraising agreement between the Clinton campaign, Clinton’s fundraising committee, and the DNC that gave Clinton’s campaign “control” of the party’s finances.
“The funding arrangement with HFA and the victory fund agreement was not illegal, but it sure looked unethical,” Brazile wrote.
On Sunday, Brazile walked back her claim that the primary was “rigged” in favor of Clinton.
