Hillary Clinton criticized President Trump's failure to specifically condemn white supremacists after violent protests erupted Saturday in Charlottesville, Va.

In a series of tweets after Trump spoke about the violence from his New Jersey golf club, Clinton called on America's leaders "to be strong in their words & deliberate in their actions."

"The incitement of hatred that got us here is as real and condemnable as the white supremacists in our streets," she wrote.

"Every minute we allow this to persist through tacit encouragement or inaction is a disgrace, & corrosive to our values," Clinton continued.

One person has died and 19 others were injured Saturday when a car plowed through counter-protesters.

Many called on Trump to denounce white supremacists. Trump instead blamed "many sides" for the violence.
