White House communications director Hope Hicks has hired a personal attorney to represent her in the investigation into whether the Trump campaign colluded with the Russian government during the 2016 election.
Hicks hired Justice Department veteran Robert Trout, Politico reported late Friday. Trout founded the firm Trout Cacheris & Janis and is a former assistant U.S. attorney in Baltimore.
The Washington Post reported earlier Friday that Hicks is one of six White House staffers that special counsel Robert Mueller wants to interview.
Hicks, 28, has been with Trump since the early stages of his presidential campaign.
