A House Democrat fired back at President Trump after he called for a government shutdown later this year.

"Nope. Our country needs a White House shutdown. Working on it," California Rep. Eric Swalwell tweeted at Trump.

Trump on Tuesday morning called for a government shutdown at the end of September to get rid of the legislative filibuster in the Senate.

"The reason for the plan negotiated between the Republicans and Democrats is that we need 60 votes in the Senate which are not there!" Trump tweeted. "We either elect more Republican Senators in 2018 or change the rules now to 51%. Our country needs a good 'shutdown' in September to fix mess!"

The agreement reached this weekend between congressional Democrats and Republicans to avoid a partial government shutdown keeps the government running until the end of September.
