A potential 2020 Democratic Party matchup between Hillary Rodham Clinton and TV megastar Oprah Winfrey would seal the end of Clinton’s political career, with Oprah winning by a huge margin, even among Democrats, according to the latest survey on Lady O.
And if she did run, those surveyed — 46.5 percent were Democrats — in the Quote.com poll want former first lady Michelle Obama or former Vice President Joe Biden as her runningmate.
Polls so far have shown Oprah beating President Trump if the election were held now. Her star got a turbo boost with her strong #MeToo and Time’s Up anti-abuse address at the Golden Globes.
The survey did provide Trump with a little bragging room, though. In it, Oprah beats Clinton by a wider margin than she would Trump.
“If any consolation can be found for the president, it's that his old foe Hillary Clinton fared worse against Oprah than he did. In this theoretical clash between two of the world's most powerful women, Clinton was deemed less likely to win across the political spectrum – including by Democrats,” said Quote.com.
The survey also asked if not Oprah, then which other celebrity should run. The results:
- Tom Hanks - 8.9 percent
- Mark Cuban - 8.5 percent
- Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson - 8 percent
- Mark Zuckerberg - 5.4 percent
- Will Smith - 3.6 percent
- Ted Nugent - 3.4 percent
- Mel Gibson - 2.9 percent
- Kanye West - 1.5 percent
- Roseanne Barr - 1.4 percent
