Gain exciting and valued work experience working as an (unpaid) intern at the Washington Examiner headquartered in downtown Washington DC with an experienced Web Team.
Your responsibilities would include (but are not limited to):
* Assisting in quality control of website material
* Providing support in production and management of content for the website
* Covering stories as assigned by editors
* Work closely with our staff on web campaigns including updates to website, Facebook, and Twitter pages
* Aid daily online email content marketing
* Provide mild administrative support to the web department: including correspondence, and transcribing interviews, etc
Qualifications:
Currently enrolled (or recent graduate) in an accredited college/university
* Undergraduate or graduate studies focusing on web development /or journalism
* Excellent editing and writing skills
Must have a web background:
* Experience with web publishing systems required
* Experience with HTML is encouraged
* Knowledge of CSS or JavaScript a plus
* Must be comfortable with Photoshop, GIMP, or other image editing software
* Familiarity with online research tools
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office required
* Proficiency with Mac-based systems and software
* Proficiency with Google products
Interpersonal Skills desired:
* Ability to prioritize duties and be proactive
* Ability to work independently and on teams
* Looking for candidates who are prepared to work at least two to three days per week.

NJC was founded by syndicated columnist and author M. Stanton Evans. Thirty-three years later, hundreds of NJC alumni work at dozens of media outlets, including major television networks, newspapers, magazines and wire services.
NJC’s 12-week internships include hands-on experience at more than four dozen media outlets, including The Washington Examiner, as well as writing workshops, seminars on the inner workings of Congress, and a speakers program.

CN offers paid summer internships and postgraduate fellowships to up-and-coming student journalists. The year-long fellowships come with stipends up to $30,000.
CN also holds a weeklong seminar that includes briefings by professional journalists and invitation-only “salons” that provide interns with informal networking opportunities.

Boston University’s WJC provides semester-long internships for students interested in political reporting at major newspapers, radio and television stations – or BU’s own Washington News Service, which produces news for its New England clients.
WJC internships are supplemented by seminars and guest lectures by nationally known journalists.
