A Democratic candidate for Iowa governor provided CPR to a woman who appeared to be choking on some food at the Polk County Steak Fry fundraiser on Saturday.
Andy McGuire, who is a physician and businesswoman, heard shouts calling for a doctor in a tent and rushed over, according to the Des Moines Register.
"I was mostly just keeping her breathing. … You've just got to keep her exchanging air until they can get her oxygen," she said, recalling giving the woman CPR.
Not long after an ambulance came and the woman was carred away on a stretcher.
McGuire, who is one of seven Democratic candidates for governor, may have saved the woman's life, Polk County Democrats Chairman Sean Bagniewski later remarked, Des Moines Register reported.
Kathie Obradovich of the Des Moines Register tweeted out a picture of McGuire and another one of the candidates, Cathy Glasson, hugging after the incident.
