As White House officials pleaded with skeptical members of Congress to hold off on new sanctions against Iran and give negotiations a chance to work, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani popped up Tuesday on Twitter with a quite different interpretation of how the talks are going:

The current sanctions proposal has some 59 cosponsors in the Senate. Rouhani's comments, along with a Los Angeles Times report of a secret side deal to the interim implementation agreement announced Sunday, should push it into veto-proof territory.
