The America we deserve

I guess it was only a matter of time before the old, white men we call our leaders resorted to taunting each other publicly with threats of physical violence.

But here we are, and isn’t it grand?

On Thursday, the president of the United States, the leader of the free world, announced on Twitter: “Crazy Joe Biden is trying to act like a tough guy. Actually, he is weak, both mentally and physically, and yet he threatens me, for the second time, with physical assault. He doesn’t know me, but he would go down fast and hard, crying all the way. Don’t threaten people Joe!”

Have we really been so bad as to deserve this as a people? Apparently so.

For more context on this particularly proud moment in American history, we turn to former Vice President Joe Biden, who apparently considers himself some sort of white knight.

“When a guy who ended up becoming our national leader said, ‘I can grab a woman anywhere and she likes it’ and then said, ‘I made a mistake.’ They asked me would I like to debate this gentleman, and I said no,” Biden said Tuesday during an address at the University of Miami.

The former vice president is, of course, referring to the infamous 2015 “Access Hollywood” tape, which contains audio of Trump bragging about leveraging his fame and power over women in return for sexual acts of a dubiously consensual nature.

Biden added, “I said, ‘If we were in high school, I’d take him behind the gym and beat the hell out of him.’ … I’ve been in a lot of locker rooms my whole life. I’m a pretty damn good athlete. Any guy that talked that way was usually the fattest, ugliest S.O.B. in the room.”

This is all very good stuff from the former vice president of the United States. Yessir.

And just for further reference, Biden’s comments this week come shortly after Trump claimed earlier this year at the Gridiron Club Dinner in Washington: “You know when he said, ‘I’m going to take you behind the barn’? Oh, just trust me, I would kick his ass. He’d be easy.”

The president, in his stand-up routine, added: “But, Joe, give me a break. A guy who keeps making outrageous statements thinks he has a shot of being president?”
