House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, assured reporters Tuesday morning that the House has no plans to impeach President Obama, sending a clear message to players on both sides who have insisted recently that this is a real thing.

Talk of impeachment is “coming from the president's own staff,” Boehner sighed at reporters during a Capitol Hill press conference, adding that Democrats in Congress have been more than happy to play along.

And this claim would appear to be accurate.

“The White House announced yesterday that Boehner's lawsuit could lead to the impeachment of President Obama,” a recent email from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee read. "Boehner's lawsuit against the President is more than a political stunt. It's a full-on attack on President Obama's agenda, his legitimacy, and the Democratic process that elected him twice."

The email continued, asking that donors help the group reach its goal of $100,000, adding “We’ve had enough of it.”

Boehner accused the White House and its allies of using talk of impeachment as a cheap ploy to raise cash ahead of the November midterm elections.

“We have no plans to impeach the president,” Boehner said, reiterating that House Republicans have “no future plans” to impeach Obama.

It’s “all a scam started by Democrats at the White House,” he added.
