Jurors are deliberating the case of a former Culpeper police officer accused of killing an unarmed woman in a school parking lot last year.
The jury heard closing arguments Monday in the murder trial of Daniel Harmon-Wright.
He is on trial for the Feb. 9, 2012, shooting death of 54-year-old Patricia Ann Cook.
Harmon-Wright has said he shot Cook after she trapped his arm in the window of her Jeep and dragged him.
Fauquier County prosecutors called the fatal shooting "excessive" and unnecessary, while Harmon-Wright's attorney said the officer was doing his job and had to make a quick decision.
Harmon-Wright is charged with murder, malicious shooting into an occupied vehicle and several other charges.
