U.S. Senate candidate Tim Kaine will engage President Obama’s base of young voters this weekend in Virginia during a two-day event aimed at rallying support college students ahead of the November election.
The Washington Examiner first reported last week that Obama for America intended to hold a youth summit in Richmond as part of a series of events to engage a key voting bloc in battleground states across the country. A similar event was held in Pennsylvania in November and featured campaign and administration officials.
Former Rep. Tom Perriello, a Virginia Democrat, former U.S. Chief Technology Officer Aneesh Chopra and actors Hill Harper and Rachael Leigh Cook will join Kaine at the event. Campaign officials will also work with the students to organize get-out-the-vote efforts in their local communities and discuss policy issues affecting college-age voters.
